I just saw Batman.. here’s some thoughts.

I have been excited about this movie since i first heard it was in production a year or more ago.
The last film, Batman Begins was fantastic, and i was sure this one would be too..

It didn’t disappoint! It went for nearly 3 hours and i loved every minute of it.

Katie Holmes didn’t return in this film, but her character did… and the casting department should be applauded for choosing Maggie Gyllenhaal.
Not only did she look amazingly similar to Katie, but she played the role really believably… It was easy to forget the character was being played by someone else.

Okay now let’s talk about Heath Ledger.

As far as i was concerned, it wouldn’t have made two shits of a difference to me if Ledger was in it or not.
I mean.. sure he was a good actor.. but really, He wasn’t this kind of international hero, loved and adored by millions…..UNTIL he died.. then everyone runs around banging on about how they always adored Heath and the ground he walked on..

So because of that, This movie has been so over hyped, and of course everyone was going to see it and rave about how great he was… So i think in my own little protest to that kind of bullshit, i might have talked myself into having low expectations of being impressed by his performance.

and the verdict…

He totally fuckin nailed it!

I never knew what a brilliant actor he was. His mannerisms, speech pattern.. everything… It was really well done.
Regardless of the makeup, there was not even a hint of Heath Ledger on the screen. he really became the character, in all ways.

And THAT’s why he deserves to win an Oscar. Not because he died.
